Weekend Happenings

Monday, March 30, 2015

Hi all! I hope you all had a great weekend! Filled with fun, laziness, and spring time warmth.  My little family and I did a whole lot of nothing. And it was nice! But not a whole lot of warmth, which was not so nice.
It snowed Friday night into Saturday. The snows almost gone. Almost the key word here. I'm pretty sure we'll still have snow in May. I'll be happy if I never see snow again, ever.

Look close and you'll see the evil snow
Lilly and I watched the new Annie movie Friday night. Much to my surprise I really enjoyed it. I love the original and like most remakes you hope they are just as good but sadly most aren't. But Annie was good. Jamie Foxx is always good for a laugh and the little girl who plays Annie was adorable. I liked how they changed it up and made it modern but yet kept to some of the original aspects. I recommend seeing it with your little.

I went out Saturday afternoon to return the movie and stopped at one of my most favorite places, Starbucks. Between the cold weather (depressing), snow (more depressing), and having no kids in tow (not depressing at all!) I felt I deserved this little treat. Plus I just wanted to try it out. So I got myself the Starbucks Birthday Frapp.
It was good but a little too sweet for my liking. I still drank it, but I don't think I'd ever order it again. If you have every smelt Scentys' Birthday Cake wax then you will know exactly what this Frapp tastes like. Strange I know, but it's dead on.

Sunday was a blah day. We were going to take the girls to Bass Pro to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny but my in-laws are coming to visit next weekend so we are going to go with them. Gives us something to do instead of just sitting in the house. Plus I know they enjoy seeing the excitement of the kids. Well the excitement of Lilly, I'm not so sure how Zoe is going to do with this. Lilly doesn't know they are coming, so when she wakes up Friday morning she is going to flip. I can't wait to see her face!
But since we didn't do that it was just another day of bumming around, doing some laundry, and getting excited for my NYC trip (12 days!!).

Zoe passed out on our lazy Sunday
Lot's going on this week between Easter, Lilly's school and gymnastic, my in-laws visiting, and just typical every day things. I'll be posting a snack I'm doing for Lilly's school on Wednesday. She was SuperStar of the week last week but she was only there Monday so we get to make up the two days she missed this week. Its going to be simple and Easter-y. Make sure to come back and see what it is.
It's suppose to reach 60 at some point this week. Excited would be an understatement. You might see a lot of New Englanders on the news wearing shorts and t-shirts, haha! Hopefully I'll be able to get outside with the girls and Lilly can ride her new bike she got for her birthday. I've only had to hear about wanting to ride this bike since January. Poor kid and having a winter birthday.
Well, hopefully it's warming up wherever you are and spring is in full effect. Thanks for stopping by!

The blanket scarf

Friday, March 27, 2015

Hi all!
I want to share a little bit of happy that I got about a week ago. It's my AEO Plaid Blanket Scarf. I'm pretty sure I'm late to this trend. I know it was a fall must have, but better late than never right?
I've seen pictures of outfit's with blanket scarfs all over Pinterest and on some of my favorite fashion bloggers. Trying to find one that wasn't ridiculously priced or the right colors seemed impossible. I love the plaid ones with red, yellow and blue. But is that really practical for any other season besides fall/winter? I guess it could be, I'm no fashion expert by any means, but that combo just seems fall-ish to me. And if I'm spending money on something I consider an accessory I need to be able to use it for more than just a few months.
Three of my besties and I are having a girls weekend in NYC in two weeks so I've been trying to prep what I'll be wearing. While talking to my bestie Sam about what to wear and bring she mentioned she got a blanket scarf from American Eagle Outfitters that's black and white- the go to colors for this momma. I looked it up immediately and fell in love (the other two colors are gorgeous too!) Plus the best part, its on sale right now for $24.99 but you get an extra 40% off at check out. The scarf is $14.99 befor tax! I haven't seen a blanket scarf that cheap yet!!
Now, when I got it I was super excited! I couldn't get it out of the bag fast enough. My first thought was it's HUGE! I mean, it's legit a blanket! I put it on and swore I was wearing it wrong. I sent Sam a picture saying "I don't think I'm wearing this right." Like the good friend she is, she said it looked normal. In the picture it actually does look normal, but in real life it's just seems so big a bulky. But I guess that's the point of a blanket scarf...? I'd share the picture put its a pretty bad selfie.
So I went to my trusted source for everything, Pinterest, and looked up how to wear it. I was doing it right and I also learned a few other way to wear. Score!
I wore it on Monday since it was a whopping high of 26 (it's spring right??). It's fantastic. I love it and I'm so glad I finally have one. My husband had to work in my home town so the girls and I tagged along to see family. I used it as a blanket on the car ride home yesterday, worked perfectly! (Sorry I don't have a quality blog picture of my outfit, but I was in a hurry and just wanted to take one and sorry for the dirty mirror!)

I'm planing to use this on my flight to NYC. Hopefully it will be warmer in a few weeks so it can replace a jacket but I'll also be able to use it as a blanket on my flight.
I have to say I can see this being pretty versatile. If you're like me and want one but aren't looking to make some huge bold statement, I totally recommend this blanket scarf.

Thanks for stopping by!

Time to start new...

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Hi all! It's been a while since I've posted anything, but with it now being spring (supposedly, we still have about a foot of snow on the ground) I want to start growing my blog again. This "timeout" for me was really nice over the summer and into the fall. I really enjoyed sharing the things that were happening and what I was doing with my little family. I read my past post last night and it made me smile. Special moments happen in every day life and writing about them is one way to look back and remember. So I'm making it one of my goals for 2015, start my blog up again and keep at it. We have a lot going on this year. I'm turning 30 (and not having any easy time with it, at all), girls weekend in NYC coming up, a wedding, getting ready to sell our house, best friends moving away due to PCS, new babies (not me!), Lilly is starting Kindergarten in the fall, and so much more. I want to remember it all, hopefully not forget any details and share everything with whoever wants to read and follow along.
   Thanks for stopping by!

Here's just a few things that have happened over the past few months:

Living in New England we got record breaking snow, all in about a month. I grow up in NY (just south of Albany) and I've never seen anything like this. We definitely had a blast with the snow but after the 3rd storm we were over it. It's finally starting to melt, but it's not melting fast enough or warming up fast enough. Pretty sure the only way an Easter Egg hunt is happening around here is if we put snow suites on. Crossing fingers and toes that our move in 2016 puts us in year round warmer weather.
Snowpocalypse 2015

Lilly and I at a Turkey Trout race in PA for Thanksgiving. Worst. Experience. Of. Life. I'm pretty postive I will not have to worry about any track meets in her high school years.

For Christmas I had pajama pictures done. Hubby was away at school and I jumped into one so he would have a nice professional pictures of us all. My photographer, Dana Marshall, is amazing and I love how they came out. If you live in the MA or RI area check her our!

Lilly Turned 5 in January and she likes to tell everyone (and remind me constantly) that she is now 5. Of course her birthday was based around Frozen. Wish I would have taken more pictures of everything I did for her party but such is life.
