It Cosmetics CC+ Cream Review and Becca Highlighter

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Happy Thursday!!

This week has been so off for our house hold. Everyone is sick!! Well, with the exception of me (knock on wood!!!). I started to get whatever this bug is last Friday but I managed to stay on top of it. Lilly still has a cough and poor Zoe's nose wont stop running. My husband got the worst of it though. He's had a fever on and off for just over 24 hours. I'm praying he's feeling better by tomorrow. Nothing worse than your whole house sick. Just glad I'm not out for the count as well. I was thinking, I feel like I'm always telling you guys that we are sick. I promise we are a healthy family!! I keep hearing from other mom's on the my Facebook groups around town that there's something going around. Lilly must has picked it up from the children's museum last week. :(  Lets just hope everyone is on the mend.

So I wanted to share with you my new love for It Cosmetics. If you have heard about the company and still aren't sure if it's worth the hype, I'm here to tell you that it is. Let me take you back to June. I had been seeing so much hype on the It Cosmetics CC+ cream and around my birthday I decided that I was going to go to Ulta and buy it. So thats exactly what I did. I picked up the CC+ Illumination and the Hello Lashes Extensions Mascara (it was a kit and came with the No-Tug waterproof gel eyeliner).

If you go to my YouTube channel (or click here) you will see me use the CC cream and the mascara in my GRWM video. I LOVE this CC cream. I will never be without this in my makeup drawer. The coverage is great and the price is on point! Plus it has so many added benefits. "IT's your anti-aging, hydrating formula infused with breakthrough brightening, color-correcting and nourishing ingredients, including niacin, algae, vitamins A, C, B and E and hyaluronic acid." I don't think I need to say much more after that statement. :) You really need to get this and try it out. Watch my video below to see what else I have to say about it.

I like the mascara. I was hoping to love it, but I don't. Sadly it doesn't do what I like mascara to do. If you like just a natural touch of mascara than this is most definitely for you. This was great for the days that I didn't wear any makeup but didn't want to look completely horrible (I never leave my house without mascara). But when I put on mascara with a full face of makeup I want my eyelashes to look long and full and this just doesn't do that for me.  I know that I wont be repurchasing this.

The eyeliner is no joke! You'll see in my video that I could smudge it a little, but trying to get it off is hard. I swatched it in the video and after I went to wash my hand, I had to scrub my hand to get it off. This stuff is perfect for your waterline. Just be prepared to still have it on after you've washed your face and used eye makeup remover.

Next is my review on the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed- Champagne Pop.
I can not get on board with Jaclyn's saying of #highlighteronfleek (I'm sorry but I think Fleek is the stupidest word we have yet to make up. Call me old, I'll take it but that word is like nails on a chalk board to me). I will say #highlighteronpoint. This highlighter is gorgeous! I have nothing like it in my makeup drawer and it adds the perfect amount of glow to any look.

See everything else I have to say about these four items in my video below.

I hope you found this helpful if you have been contemplating buying any of these products. The CC+ is a holy grail for me (there I said it!). No doubt about it! If you have tried any other It Cosmetics or even Becca products, let me know. I'd love to hear your opinions and what I should try out next.

Thanks for taking a timeout with me! See you all next time!!

Painting the Foyer (Finally)

Monday, July 27, 2015

Hi All!

It appears that summer time seems to be when home projects actually get down around this house. Last year we did the back splash and painted the living room and kitchen area (see post here). This time I finally found the right paint color (with the help of my bestie Samantha) for the foyer.

Let me start by saying, at this point in the home improvement game it's all about what will help sell our house. My husband is due to transfer next summer and we will be putting our house on the market probably around spring time. I'm not happy to leave here or my house that I love so much, but such is the military life.

Now, like any good home owner, you want the foyer to be a warm and inviting place. It is where guests walk into first. I didn't want it to be just a blasé taupe or beige color. I know that may be the best for selling, but at the same time I wanted some color. After all, I do still live here and I want to enjoy my house too. I was going to do just a darker or lighter version of Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter (I colored matched it at Lowe's), that color is in the living room and kitchen area. But I wasn't sold, hence why it never got done.

Samantha and her husband just bought a house so she has been talking to me about paint colors and she showed me pictures of different rooms using Benjamin Moore's Wedgewood Gray.

I love the blue gray and I thought it would go great with Revere Pewter. In fact, when I look up the color on Pinterest they are both in a ton of color swatches. I decided (with Samantha's help) that it would be the perfect color for the foyer. It's not just gray, its warm, inviting and cozy.

So I went to Lowe's and had them paint match it for me. I did this all on a Thursday and had everything done by Friday. I don't mess around. HAHA!

Here are a few pictures before. Nothing special, the walls are just builders paint.  And please excuse the playroom, the girls were playing.  :)

As you can see, very basic but a decent size area. You can see the living-room, kitchen, and playroom (it's actually suppose to be a formal dinning room) all from walking in the door. So the color in there had to blend well.

When I started painting and got most of the trim work done, I have to say I was worried. It seemed WAY more blue than I was expecting. It also immediately closed up the room. It felt so much bigger before. Just goes to show how darker and lighter colors can change the feeling of size in a room. Here's a picture of what I mean.

See what I mean? Not exactly what I was going for.

I know the lighting isn't the best since it was night time. But all I could see was blue and my husband was no help by saying "it looks baby blue." Baby blue is NOT at all what I was going for. I was starting to panic a little. I just spent $35 on paint, this was a lot of work, and now I hate it. If I hate it so will other people. I was sending these pictures to Samantha and she told me to wait it out and see what it looks like in the morning. So I finished up and started pulling the painters tape off...

Do you see what I see?? Its not SO blue anymore!! I mean it's still blue, lets be honest here (I'm wondering if the paint mix wasn't exactly correct), but it's more muted. Still not exactly what I had in mind, but I don't hate it anymore. Again these two pictures aren't the best but once I took that painters tape off it made a world of difference, for me anyways.

And here is the finished look with natural light:

And here are two more pictures with my front door open and what you would see if you are standing in the living-room.

So, it's defiantly a blue and with different lighting it changes the look, but I honestly love it. I will not be adding any shade of a true blue in the room though. Clearly the painters tape brought out the blue more than I wanted. I would like to get a sunburst mirror to replace the picture mirror we already have hanging. But I'm not sure I'll actually get around to that. I need to get a table to put under the mirror and I want a coat rack with a shelf to hang on the wall closest to the playroom. I'm thinking of going with white or a light rustic wood color for the table and the coat hanger but I'm not sure. I think it would help lighten up the space, but everything else is so dark (picture frames and mirror), I'm scared the contrast wont be appealing. Let me know what you think, I could definitely use the opinions.

In the end, I really love how it came out and I can only hope when people come to view our house they will love it too. I have half a gallon left and although I was thinking about carrying this paint all the way upstairs, I'm honestly thinking it's just too much blue. So I'm painting our spare room with the rest of the color. We need to paint every room in the house and I still have to pick out the paint color for the play room, upstairs, my bathroom and my bedroom. I don't want to think about another room and I don't want to waste this paint. I already have a bed spreed and curtains that match the paint so I'm just going with it. If you have any decor or paint recommendations please let me know! I'm also open for suggestions.

If and when I get those extra's for the foyer I'll post pictures. I'm so happy with this space. Now it's on to picking out the other colors for the rest of the rooms. I wish I could just hire an interior decorator! But since I can't it's back to Pinterest for me. :) Don't forget to follow me on Pinterest. Look up NikkiF06 or just click on the Pinterest icon on the side. Send me some ideas for my house, I'd love to see what you think!

Thank you so much for stopping by my timeout and I'll talk to you all next time!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Saturday, July 25, 2015

Hi All!!
Hope your week was great! Lilly came down with  a summer cold and I now I have it. :( I'm hoping this doesn't last long, but Lilly's been coughing like crazy for the past 3 days. Lets hope Zoe doesn't get this and Lilly's better in the next day or two.

If you follow any type of fashion blogger or vlogger (on YouTube), than there is absolutely no way possible you could have missed the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (It's going on till August 3rd). I too have jumped on this crazy sale train and picked up a few things that I have been eying for some time.

My first order (I have placed three so far...lets not talk about that though, ha!) was for two Kendra Scott necklaces. I have been wanting to order some pieces for a few months now and just haven't pulled the trigger. Kendra Scott sends out random coupons, but Nordstrom has some pieces marked down during the Anniversary Sale. I have specifically been wanting to get the 'Rayne' necklace. I did not pick this one up because the color stones that are on sale are not the one's I've been wanting. And I still think the price is a little steep to order something that isn't exactly what want, you know what I mean? Unfortunately for me, when the sale first started they did have a couple of colors I wanted, but I didn't act fast enough. Lesson learned: if you want something during a Nordstrom Sale, just order it you can always return!  I did however pick up the 'Rae' Long Pendant Necklace in Magenta.

I am in LOVE with this!! It has an adjustable clasp so I can make it longer or short. The quality is amazing and it is so light weight! I was sure it would be heavy. I mean, doesn't it look heavy?  But it's not at all. This piece is going to be so comfortable to wear. I wanted the Magenta because the pop of color is perfect for summer. Honestly I plan to wear this year round. I tend to wear mostly greys, whites, and black so this necklace will be perfect to add color to my outfit. And it will be nice to add a bright color in the middle of winter when I'm dreaming of warmer weather. There are 7 different colors available in this style and the discount goes up to 50% on some of them. If you have been wanting a pendent that's simple yet elegant, I highly recommend you pick this up during the sale.

Along with the "Rae" necklace I ordered the 'Elisa' Pendant necklace in Coral Magnesite.

I have, also, been wanting the 'Elise' pendant for months. I picked up this one specifically for the summer and fall. I've wanted this is the Magenta too, but I didn't want to order my first two Kendra Scott pieces in the same color. It might be a little too bright for the winter months, but I know I'm still going to get a lot of wear out of it. The 'Elise' is the smallest pendent in this shape. The next size up is the 'Dylan'. I've been wanting a dainty gold necklace for a long time and I feel like this one fits the bill.  I'm still waiting for this one to come in (Nordstrom shipped them separately), but after getting to see the 'Rae' I know I'm going to be really happy with the 'Elise'.

I'm so in love with Kendra Scott jewelry. They are beautifully made and all the pieces are so classy. There are so many pieces that I want to order, but I'm pretty sure my next order will be a druzy stone 'Elise' pendant and a 'Rayne' pendent. Just keeping an eye out for sales on these two.

My next order was this Lush 'Perfect' Roll Tab Sleeve Tunic in New Olive.

At first I was skeptical about this top. I saw a few fashion bloggers rave about this, but I wasn't taking the bate. I've been in needed of a tunic like this in my wardrobe for a long time. A good, classic staple that can be dressed up or down. Well, I started seeing this shirt all over Instagram from other fashion bloggers and I decided I need to just buy it. See what all the hype is about. I ordered a small and I'm praying it will fit right. I'm in between a small and a medium, so I want with the small in hopes that it wouldn't be too baggy. I love a good tunic, but I don't want to look shapeless in it either. Which tends to happen to me in tunics (and shift dresses, which sucks just as much). I decided to go with the green because I think it's a great fall and winter color, plus I need some color in my life. I'm also waiting for this one to come in. I have the black and the sphinx waiting in my bag to be ordered right after I get this one and try it on. I'd love to order white but it's out of stock in my size. I'm just crossing my fingers these don't sell out like the Kendra Scott 'Rayne' necklace did.  I should just take my own advice and order them, "they can be returned" but I really despise returning things.

My last order was for the BP 'Trott' Bottie in Taupe Leather.

'Trott' Bootie (Women)

I have been on the hunt for a good bootie since last fall. I'm so overly picky it's a bit ridiculous. I was watching Marnie 'MsGoldGirl' Goldberg's YouTube video on what she bought from the sale (video here) and she bought the 'Trott" bootie in chocolate brown and said they are by far the most comfortable bootie she has ever worn. I highly value Marnie's opinion so I went on right away to order these bad boys. Well they have not been in stock in my size in the chocolate brown, black or the taupe. I've been checking everyday this week because Nordstrom's seems to get some of the sizes back in stock randomly. My luck changed and they had the taupe in my size today (Friday). I don't think I could have hit the "place order" button any faster! Excited is an understatement!

After all this excitement, I got an email no shopper who's been waiting for an item wants to get .

Whaaaaaaaa!!! :(  Bummed  is an understatement. I can't even go to the store because they aren't sold within any Nordstom in a 50 mile radius from me. I'm going to keep checking the site to see if they come back, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

So that's all that I've picked up... so far. I'm going to do a Haul video once I have everything in. But I wanted to share with you all what I've ordered before the sale is over. Let me know if you pick anything up!

Hope you all have an amazing weekend! Thanks for stopping by my timeout and I'll see you later!!

Happy Wednesday!!

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

Hi All!!
I hope your Wednesday is going great! We have been busy enjoying summer. The girls both love the beach, the water, and just being outside. So I've been trying to do a lot of that with them. I can't believe there's only a week and half left of July! I'm slightly ready for fall, but not ready to give up any beach days just yet. HAHA!

I've been trying to keep up with my YouTube channel and I've put up 2 new videos since my last post here.  I posted a Get Ready With Me (GRWM) and July's Mommy Mailbox Unboxing.

In my GRWM video I show you what's been my go to look this summer. If you clink on the video you can see a list of everything I used. :) It's a simple look that I feel like isn't over the top. It's long (as susual), but I talk my way through the whole video. This look usually only takes me about 15 minutes. I hope you enjoy it!

Here's my July Mommy Maibox Unboxing. If you go to the video you can, also, see a list of everything I received and where to get it. I'm loving the Longest Thread towel! A lot more so than I thought I would. It's been so perfect for the beach. I'm not too sure about the face scrub. It smelt SO bad when I used and I haven't used it since the first time. The smell was just too much. :( I used the avocado peeler last night and I can't say I'm too impressed with it. Sadly, that got me the most excited, haha!! But my avocado was almost overly ripe so maybe that was why I had a problem with it. And if you can find yourself do Ipsy Chips (not pictured above because I ate them!), I recommended picking them up. As Zoe would say, Nom Nom Nom! :) I'm going to get at least one more box from Mommy Mailbox. The curator for August is Whippy Cake (she also has a YoutTube channel) and I just love her style. I can't wait to see what she puts in. Check out Mommy Mailbox or find them on instagram by the same name.

So, that's what I've been up to on my YouTube channel.  Please dont forget to subscribe to my channel and give the videos a thumbs up if you like them. :)

I hope the rest of your week goes great. We don't have a whole lot planned, hopefully heading to the beach tomorrow or Friday. The girls had me up at 5:45 this morning so we've had an earlier start to our day. I'm exhausted, but these two seem to be going stir crazy (and driving each other nuts! Is it a full moon?!?), so it's time to get dressed and head out the door. As always, thanks for stopping by my timeout and I'll talk you all later!!

Xo,
 Nikki
